Hello friends!

As I write this I am speeding down I-70 out of Denver, Colorado! I am visiting a friend from backpacking last year and her family. I spent 2 days in Denver, I got in early Saturday morning. Today we are off to Mt. Evans a 14,000 foot mountain we have decided to climb 😛 it will certainly be an experience to remember although I truly can’t wait to be done with it climbing mountains is not really my thing. We’ll start climbing early tomorrow morning and we’re camping there tonight. I will take plenty of pictures for you guys I promise!

I just thought I’d update you all and let you know I haven’t forgotten you! Hope you are having a fantastic and delicious 4th of July!!

I just thoughI would make a quick post to all of you who read this saying that I know that it has been forever since I have made a real post. I have just been so incredibly busy with volleyball and school work! I hate that I have not blogged in so ling becauseI love it so much and hopefully I can make it happen soon.

For anyone who might be wondering why I have not made my post for Project Food Blog see the excuses stated above 😛 I wanted to make one but can’t seem to find the time!

Don’t worry I will make posts I just don’t know when!

So… why am I here?

The main motivation for creating this blog was the fact that like the rest of America I am in the process of losing weight. Big whoop right? Well believe it or not I’ve actually been mildly successful. I started this wild ride on January 1, 2009 (appropriat no?) at 186 miserable pounds. I had tried and failed to lose weight before, but that time something just clicked in to place and it was easy to make the necessary changes. HOWEVER, it has been in no way easy. I have had 2 major plateaus since then, both of which lasted somewhere between 2 or 3 frustrating months where I did everything in my power to lose the weight and the stupid scale would not budge! I guess I should tell how much i have actually lost since that fateful New Years Day. As of today I have lost 27 pounds, so I’m 159, or at least I was last Sunday when I last weighed-in.

But I don’t want this to just be another weight-loss blog! I can’t say that my life is really all that interesting, but I will definitely write about more than just what i ate or how i work out. Although weight-loss is obviously a huge part of my life.

First I will tell you a little about myself (although not too much, this is the internet after all!)  My name is Elli, its pronounced like Ellie for anyone who might be confused by the lack of the extra “e.” I am 16 years young, and I go a regular old high school in suburbia where there are mostly rich white kids. I am a generally happy and optimistic person, although I have my moments. I run 3 days a week for about an hour right now, although when I finish with school I will also run in the morning but probably only for half an hour. I’ve run 2 5ks (3.1 miles) and have finished both in about 31 mins which I am quite proud of because I didn’t walk a single step! My ultimate goal is to run a half marathon (13 miles) one day in a few years. I also am in love with kickboxing and I go to a class Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays. I love reading and will probably mention the books I’m reading form time to time. I am in love with cooking and I’m always making something delicious and oh-so healthy for dinner!! Recipes will be shared for any who care! So maybe there won’t be a specific focus to this blog, but one may appear on its own, we’ll see!

I hope that maybe i can be of help to some teen out there sho wants to lose weight, because I know that is way different to try to lose weight as a teenager!
