My journey:
Starting weight: 186 lbs.
Current weight: 154 lbs.
Goal Weight: 135 lbs.
I started my weight loss journey as a “New Years Resolution” for 2009 when I went shopping with my mom and found that I needed a size 16! I was shocked and couldn’t even believe that it was real, that I had really gotten to that size. All of a sudden I realized that my outside really just didn’t match my inside and I was not okay with that. Ever since then I have been slowing losing weight. I have experienced some pretty major plateaus but its coming along and I am proud of the weight I’ve lost, the things I learned and that I have maintained a healthy attitude. It’s certainly not always easy and I am still learning every day how to be and eat healthy.
I started this blog to share my own experiences to maybe help others but also for the great support I know could be found online. There are plenty of weight loss blogs out there but not many about a teen and I felt like that needed to change. Teens can lose weight the healthy way and I wanted to show that since I feel like so ofter we only focus of teens who eat too much and teens who don’t eat anything. I love being healthy and this blog is just somewhere where I can share my stories of my healthy journey but also just my life in general!
What I eat:
I eat lots of fruits and veggies, I didn’t start our this way but it has been kind of a natural progression, because I can eat a lot more food if I eat fruits and veggies. I don’t really follow a “diet” of any kind but I use a lot of the principals from Volumetrics which is really just healthy eating anyway. I call myself a “flexitarian”, basically I eat meat occasionally for protein but I’m not a meat lover by any means.
Exercise:
3 or 4 days a week I go to an hour long kickboxing class, about once I week I do yoga at my gym, and then I will also run, or use the elliptical, weights, etc, at my gym to fill out the week. I normally will take one maybe 2 days off form exercise a week. I love to run but am not able to really train in the winter because of time and weather and whatnot. But you can see my hopeful running goals below.
